The aim of the Board of Management’s concept of diversity is to continuously enhance diversity in the Board of Management of Brenntag SE to ensure a focused management development on diversity and a successful long-term succession planning considering the age, gender, educational and professional background as well as international experience.

The following aspects of the concept of diversity ensure a holistic approach to a successful, long-term succession planning:

  • The age limit for the members of the Board of Management is 65 years.
  • The achievement of the determined target values and time frames for the proportion of women on the Board of Management is targeted. The intended target value of the proportion of women in the Board of Management is 20% by January 31, 2026.
  • The members of Board of Management in the aggregate shall have particularly extensive international experience based on background and/or professional experience.
  • The members of the Board of Management in the aggregate shall have several years of management experience.
  • The members of the Board of Management in the aggregate must be familiar with the chemical distribution sector. At least one member of the Board of Management shall have educational or professional expertise in the area of chemical industry or distribution.
  • At least one member of the Board of Management shall have verified knowledge of finance and accounting procedures.

Brenntag is convinced that a holistic approach to diversity strengthens the company in a long term by considering different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds, adding value for Brenntag’s customers and suppliers as well as for our employees.

The consideration of diversity is also stipulated in the Rules of Procedure of the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board shall take diversity into account when appointing the members of the Board of Management, and, in particular, aim for an appropriate consideration of women. The first-time appointment of the members of Board of Management shall be for a period of not more than three years.

The current composition of the Board of Management meets all aspects of the concept of diversity. The current age range on the Board of Management is from 40 to 60 years. The average age of the members of the Board of Management is 50. Brenntag fulfills the intended target value of the proportion of women of 20 % in the Board of Management since April 1, 2022.
