EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

Brenntag belongs to the top 1% companies assessed

Brenntag already has voluntarily undergone several EcoVadis assessments. In its December 2022 assessment, Brenntag Group was awarded 77 points and thereby reached platinum status for the first time. The result ranks Brenntag among the top 1% companies across industries as well as among the top suppliers assessed overall by EcoVadis.

Brenntag is keen to achieve further scoring improvements. Moreover, as part of its "Together for Sustainability" membership, Brenntag encourages its own suppliers to undergo an EcoVadis self-assessment.

CDP Climate Rating

In 2023, Brenntag has taken part for the sixth time in international organization CDP’s climate rating project. Every year, CDP analyzes several thousand companies worldwide with regard to their strategic approach to the challenges of climate change and rates their climate management activities based on a comprehensive list of criteria.

Brenntag was awarded again a B (“Management”) in the Climate Change 2023 rating, confirming that Brenntag is not only transparent about climate issues and aware of its impact, but is also taking coordinated action to mitigate it. The individual scores of six out of eleven sub-categories could be improved compared with the previous year’s scores. CDP awards company ratings from A (“Leadership”) to D (“Disclosure”).

  • By taking part in the CDP rating, Brenntag aims to further develop its energy and CO2 reporting based on recognized standards.
  • At the same time, the company is responding to calls from customers and investors for greater transparency and comparability in its reporting on CO2 emissions, and is also demonstrating its progress in climate management.
  • In addition, taking part in external rating programs like that of CDP shows Brenntag new potential and ways to further enhance its sustainability strategy and its monitoring so that the company can continue to make positive contributions to protecting the environment.

CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. The world’s economy looks to CDP as the gold standard of environmental reporting with the richest and most comprehensive dataset on corporate and city action.
